An adventure in freshly foraged produce with rustic flavour & charm
A trendy new eatery with passion & soul
Hidden in a nondescript strip center, this is a decidedly casual but handsome little place, with cozy booths, tapestry-covered walls, and Persian artifacts strewn about the room. The servers at this family-operated eatery go out of their way to accommodate guests and the food is authentic and well-prepared. A handful of eggplant dips, like the borani bademjan, which is a mixture of fried eggplant, yogurt, grilled onions, garlic and mint, is a soulful way to start. Kebab plates --- we enjoyed the chicken barg (thin cuts from the breast) and the beef koubideh (extra lean, marinated ground beef) --- are served with a mountain of saffron-scented basmati rice and are large enough to share. Another tasty specialty is the house stew, served with a bone-in New Zealand lamb shank, slow-cooked with onions, garlic and spices. For dessert, Persian ice cream or traditional baklava is available. Complement your meal with a selection from the brief wine list. - Gah-Yo
